For example, the "Sharpshooter" perk, which provides accuracy benefits when using scoped rifles, can be raised in level by completing a number of headshots with specific weapons. Players can level up each perk to increase the benefits it offers. The perk, similar to the idea of a character class, provides bonuses towards certain weapon types, armor, movement, and other factors. Players select one of seven perks at the start of a match and between rounds. Players are encouraged to work together they can trade items and drop money, healing is more effective on other players than on oneself, and the team can strategically weld doors shut to provide a temporary barrier from the oncoming horde while funneling the other creatures to specific areas. Weapons can also be found randomly across the level. The trader buys and sells ammo, armor, and weapons, such as katanas, pipe bombs, flamethrowers and shotguns. In Objective mode players complete different challenges while earning in-game money, which they can spend between waves at a trader. In Killing Floor mode, the player fights waves of zombie-like specimens - or ZEDs - with each wave becoming successively more difficult, until it concludes with a battle against a "boss" specimen called the Patriarch. Margrave is a wonderful creation, a seemingly picture- perfect community under the care of a mysterious foundation where the streets are always swept and the people who run the tiny local businesses get grants of $1000 a week to stay open. Otherwise, Child writes with a hand as strong and steady as steel. The reader expects the other shoe to drop-for Reacher to be revealed as an undercover agent, or some such but it never does. This combination of events is so unbelievably convenient that it almost overwhelms the book's solid writing. Downsized out of the military, Reacher has cutting-edge investigative and killing skills that come in handy the moment he learns of his brother's murder. Indeed, when he's arrested in a local diner for being a conspicuously mysterious stranger, Reacher tells the detective who interviews him that he dropped off the bus to investigate the death of Blind Blake, a guitar player murdered in Margrave 60 years ago.
